ImageTexT: Interdisciplinary Comics Studies is pleased to announce the release of its latest issue, volume 7 number 1, "The Worlds of the Hernandez Brothers." The issue was guest-edited by Derek Parker Royal and Christopher González. We are proud to present six featured articles in Issue 7.1:

  • Jesse Molesworth's "Comics as Remediation: Gilbert Hernandez's Human Diastrophism"
  • Frederick Luis Aldama's "Mood, Mystery, and Demystification in Gilbert Hernandez's Twentieth-First-Century NeoNoir Stand-Alones"
  • Christopher González's "Turf, Tags, and Territory: Spatiality in Jaime Hernandez's "Vida Loca: The Death of Speedy Ortiz""

The issue also offers four reviews of books on or by the Hernandez Brothers, as well as a selected bibliography by guest editor Derek Parker Royal. This selected bibliography covers the publications of the Herndandez Brothers and the critical and scholarly work that has surrounded them to date.

ImageTexT is an academic journal dedicated the scholarship of visual-verbal art, specifically the theory and criticism of comics. Since its founding in 2004, ImageTexT has been an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, and it has been listed in the MLA bibliography since 2005. ImageTexT publishes general issues, special issues devoted to particular topics in comics and visual culture, and themed, tie-in issues related to the University of Florida's annual Comics Conference.
