The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH), based at the University of Oxford UK, is now home to a new interdisciplinary network designed to promote the academic study of comics at Oxford, in the UK and beyond. Entitled "Comics and Graphic Novels: The Politics of Form", the network is comprised of bi-weekly seminars during term times and features talks from both comics critics and academics as well as artists, writers and comics creators. The seminars are designed to cultivate an open environment where all are welcome to come and learn more about the academic study of comics. We are interested in all kinds of graphic art and sequential narrative, from the superhero comic to the contemporary graphic novel to web comics. The network also has an active blog and welcomes contributions such as reviews, conference reports and opinion pieces. We are very outward looking and keen to connect with comics studies conferences, academics and practitioners based at other institutions both in and outside the UK. You can learn more about the network here: http://www.torch.ox.ac.uk/comics
