Final Examination Paper

Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to assess your ability to implement an analysis and discussion of a part of our final text in I.S.P. 200 – using some of the “critical concepts” that were part of previous text analyses.

Assignment:
This final examination assignment asks you to write a paper in which you apply the QUESTIONS FOR ANALYZING IMAGES HANDOUT - to a page or pages – chapter – in Art Spiegelman’s – In The Shadow of No Towers. You may also use the concepts of “multiculturalism” – “closure” (closure is defined as the imaginative creation of the reader that takes place in the blank space between panels in a comic / or graphic novel – in the borders, so to speak) – and artistic style (such as the discussion we had in class on Joe Sacco’s style).

Make sure you give the bibliographical information regarding In The Shadow of No Towers at the opening of your paper. Remember to use appropriate “terminology” whenever appropriate and you should scan pages, panels, images into the text of your paper – do not attach at the end of the paper and expect the reader to go back and forth with only page references.

Format: Typed, double-spaced, page numbers formatted, Works Cited page, no folders or title pages, format heading.

Length: No fewer than 5 pages –
