Professor Charles Hatfield, Assistant Professor of Children's Literature, Department of English, California State University, Northridge, has published widely in comics theory and criticism, and his new book "Hybrid Lit: Tension and Innovation in Comic Art, 1980-2000," a study of the revitalizing and redefining of comic art in comic books and graphic novels since 1980, with a strong emphasis on alternative comix, is forthcoming from the University Press of Mississippi.
